Background: “There is no such thing as mystery… only ignorance.”
These are the words Touya has lived by ever since he was a child. Having an investigative journalist for a father and a science fiction author for a mother made a lasting impression on a child already gifted with an extraordinary imagination and insatiable curiosity. The lessons he learned from both parents came to an odd synergy in Touya – he inherited his father’s intense drive for the truth, but coupled it with his mother’s sense that the truth can be more than the conventional wisdom would be ready to accept.
He learned THAT lesson the hard way when, six years ago, he was following a ‘lead’in the faculty room of Gekkoukan High – when midnight chimed.
Discovering that a school transforms into a twisted tower filled with shadowy creatures would probably be considered the scoop of the century – but Touya wasn’t interested in ‘breaking’ news. He just wanted to know its secrets… all of its secrets…
So when his parents respective jobs took them out of the city, Touya stayed on, and made sure that he was accepted into Gekkoukan High. Once there, he quickly grew notorious for his nosy, impertinent questions on all manner of subjects, but while he indeed continued to show an unhealthy amount of interest in the secrets of others (including teachers, which resulted in a suspension that cost him his advancement to third year), he never lost sight of his true goal.
And when the invitation to SEES finally arrived, he knew that he wouldn’t be ignorant for long.
Personality: Touya is obsessed with secrets – of the world, of people, and especially this new world of Tartarus and the Dark Hour. He is widely read on subjects which interest him, but these are usually things without practical application, such as the occult and parapsychology. Anything ordinary or easily understandable bores him, and he makes it a point never to slip into a routine.
His dealings with people can tend to be… abrupt. He’s given to saying things just to get a reaction out of people, and has been known to casually lie about some important matter (“I saw your test paper – why didn’t you answer the last page?”) just to gain insight into that person.
That being said however, Touya places a lot of value on the truth in matters he considers important. When he makes a commitment, to a cause or a person, he sticks with it through thick or thin. Touya will stand by the side of his friends… whether his friends will want him there is another matter entirely.
